RAMA DAVIES

Hey there! I'm Rama,

I started training in the gym as a scrawny 16-year-old aspiring cricketer. While the cricketing endeavours might have worn off over time, my love for all things related to human movement did not. A little over a decade later, and that passion has earned me a bachelor’s degree, a fruitful internship with the Box Hill VFL Men’s team, and of course, the opportunity to work here at The Box!

A bit more that you mightn’t know about me. Shortly after finishing high school I lived in upstate New York for a year, where I got to see parts of the east coast of the United States. I also love music, I’ve grown up attending an ashram where I’ve been exposed to an Indian percussive instrument called the Mrdang, which I’ve played my entire life. And in September 2022, whilst training for what would have been my first ever marathon, I suffered a seizure, and was soon after diagnosed with brain cancer. This is an experience that I openly share about as much as possible. To me, not only is it important to be aware that these kind things can happen to anyone, regardless of how fit and healthy you may seem. It is a timely reminder that life is too short, and you might as well try your best to lead purposeful life, because you never know what may happen tomorrow – just go get it!
